Roughnecks advance to area playoffs
The White Oak Roughnecks rolled to a 46-12 win in the first round of the playoffs against the Mount Vernon Tigers. Senior Max Kutch and Sophomore Dalton Sumrow lead the high powered Roughneck offense. Kutch had 3 touchdowns in the first half and four overall in the Roughneck win. Sumrow completed 18 of 21 passes for 280 yards and 4 touchdowns. The roughnecks scored 38 unanswered points. With a stingy defense and a strong offense the White Oak Roughnecks have the opportunity to go all the way to Dallas Cowboy Stadium in December.
This week the #10 ranked White Oak Roughnecks (10-1) take on the Unranked (9-2) Pottsboro Cardinals for the Area title.The Roughnecks were underdogs when they defeated the Cardinals in last years matchup 17-0. This years Contest in Emory Rains Texas At 7:00. If the White Oak secondary can find a way to stop a very skilled Pottsboro wide receiver unit and the defensive line can control the line of scrimmage the Roughnecks will be in good shape. The White Oak offense has found a way to put up lots of points all season.
If the Roughnecks make it past Pottsboro they play the winner of Sunnyvale and Farmersville to potentially set up another rematch. This time on an even bigger stage. It is rumored that the winner of the two games this week play at “The Star” a 50 million plus dollar Dallas Cowboy training facility. If this scenario were to happen the Roughnecks would be out for blood after last year’s devastating loss.
